Choosing a surf school
If you can afford it, private classes are the best way to go! Otherwise make sure there aren't more than 5 students in the ocean with one instructor at a time.

Benefits

Let Nancy Emerson and her certified surf instructors add value to your next corporate team building event in an Aloha Spirit.

Learning in the ocean and surf:

  • Creates an atmosphere that is entertaining, relaxed, informative, and professional and allows any stress to disappear.
  • Enhances relationships between co-workers through mutual dependency for outcomes and personal achievement during an activity that is challenging and enjoyable.
  • Puts co-workers on the same level where chain of command, in a formal sense, becomes irrelevant.
  • Lets co-workers see their peers learning and improving in a new endeavor where individuals can assist the learning of the whole team through coaching and mentoring for growth and development.
  • Gives people a chance to interact at the beach and in the ocean so co-workers observe each other in different surroundings.

Through relationship building with Nancy and her team, participants will discover important lessons that can be applied to their careers, including learning to:

  • Relax, breathe and let go of stress in one’s life,
  • Trust their instructors and face and overcome their fears in a supportive and structured environment,
  • Take calculated risks based on rational, logical and emotional experiences in a holistic way,

  • Observe how collectively the team becomes stronger through working together.

Learn surfing skills for business success – eliminate stress and enhance productivity

The more relaxed you are at work, the more productive and creative you will be.

It’s a chance for teammates to let their guard down, just be themselves and have fun, which is great for strengthening relationships between co-workers. The ocean can help you uncover your true strengths and areas you can improve on in your life.

When you learn to surf, there are many analogies you can apply in your business…

In the ocean and the waves In business
Learn to read the ocean and know what to look for. Get familiar with economic and social trends affecting your business.
Learn how to judge your environment, spot an undertow and rip current, and be aware at all times before and after entering the ocean of its movement. Research your industry and competitive environment.
Know your strength and ability and when to push beyond your abilities and when it’s too risky, based on the ocean’s conditions. If you are not sure ask a local on the beach. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help and advice from people best qualified in areas that challenge you.
Keep your head up and look where you are going. Learn to predict when the surf is coming based on signals in the ocean that you will learn through experience. Be able to predict trends and factors that will affect your business.
Know when the conditions are right for you to go out and when to wait for the right conditions. “Be in the right place at the right time”. Check your facts, research and seek feedback before implementing new projects.
Be able to react quickly in changing conditions. Be flexible to change approach when necessary in business.
Better to consult about conditions than to guess or assume something about the ocean. Work as a team to come up with the best solutions for each project.
Listen to advice from experienced surfing professionals and independently investigate the truth for oneself. Accept input from others at all levels, including lower chains of command, from those who have experience and longevity with the company.
Be patient with yourself and others while you learn about the ocean. Realize how patience and taking time for explanations can achieve better results.
