Remember, wherever you direct your eyes, your board will follow, so look to the location on the wave you want to end up. Eye up a point down the line and stay focused on that point. Keep your body over the midpoint of your surfboard and lean slightly on your front foot, and you are on your way.

 

 

 

 

 Private Lesson or Clinic with Nancy Emerson

This is a one-on-one lesson with Nancy who has over 40 years surfing and over 30 years teaching experience.

Nancy is internationally renowned for her Learn to Surf in One Lesson technique and the development of Kai Nalu @ ONE.

Kai Nalu @ ONE is a technique to help overcome the fear of the ocean and waves. Kai Nalu @ ONE will gently assist you to feel at ease in the water while developing a healthy respect for the ocean¹s majestic power.

Each day the surfing location is determined by Nancy or her chief instructor for optimal learning. The classes and clinics are fun, safe and easy. The surfing lesson starts on the beach, getting you suited up with the appropriate rash guard and surfboard, followed by instruction on ocean awareness, water safety, reading the conditions and surf etiquette.

Nancy will present a detailed demonstration on the beach of how to:

  • safely enter and exit the ocean
  • paddle out through the waves or channel
  • judge the timing of when to paddle for a wave
  • position yourself to catch a wave, stand up and ride it

    Nancy will then paddle out and demonstrate these techniques you have just learned. This is extremely helpful to be able to visualize all you will be doing before entering the ocean.

    Nancy will then take you out, guiding you through the channel or breaking surf and into the line up to get the best rides of your life.

    You have plenty of time to practice and go at your own speed.

    Nancy is patient, sensitive and passionate. All in all the lesson will be filled with excitement, fun and knowledge and is guaranteed to be one of the best experiences of your life.

    Participants under the age of 18 years will need to make sure a legal guardian is present to sign Waiver of Liability form. We can if time allows arrange to fax this form before hand if guardian will not be in attendance.
